Blog, schmog, twitter, shmitter, whatever. This blog is my first real attempt to deal with technology, other than my halting use of Facebook and my limited comprehension of my iPhone.  Why am I doing this? Because I love to write music and share it. Because I have a racing mind, lots to say, and I can sometimes wear out my husband’s ears. My friends are patient and plentiful, and I can spread out my conversation. But I digress. I want to post songs I have written, and to talk about the process of inspiration, soaring ego and crashing ego. Creativity is going out on a limb. Why go out on a limb if no one is there to see it? (If no one hears the limb crashing in the forest, did it really happen?)

I’m going to post a song called “Tip Your Bucket.” It was originally a poem I wrote, having just read and been inspired by the great poet Rumi. He lived a very, very, very long time ago, and knew nothing of cyberspace. But he knew SO much about inner human space, living in our beautiful world, and had such good advice for himself and others. So this song is some advice. There is a line in the old Disney classic movie, “Alice in Wonderland,” in which Alice is lost in the deep dark woods. She sits down and sings, “I always give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.” It is in that spirit that I offer advice that often is beyond me, but to which I aspire.

  1. Great start on this new venture. Great that you can post songs and thoughts. Looking forward to your unfolding blog.

  2. “A leap into the 21st century!”

I smiled from the very first word to the very last and then couldn’t resist reading the whole thing, again, out loud!

Looking forward to the next one!
